WHY WE'RE HERE
In A Tent is a website devoted to unearthing and displaying campsites: good or bad, crowded or isolated, beside a car or deep in the woods; however we have experienced them.
This site was born from the lack of thorough descriptions provided in the camping and hiking books and websites we have encountered. A hiking book wouldn't speak of backpacking, even if there were several spots along the trail. A camping guide described a trail as backpack-able, but failed to mention that there was only had one realistic place to put a tent. All of these might lack quality photos of what these places have to offer. The purpose of In A Tent is to provide objective opinions on various campsites including what the sites are like, succinct directions to get there, fees and so on.
We will definitely include backpacking, primitive camping spots, and potentially drive up camp grounds, but our preference in camping is to get away from crowds and cars and find ourselves secluded in nature, so you will find an emphasis to these types of sites.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, this site is meant to be a collaborative effort. Email us more photos and descriptions of the places you've camped and help us add to our repertoire! Let us know if our directions are a little off, or if something has changed in the past years; perhaps the camping fee went up, or a forest fire changed the ambience of the landscape.
Thank you!
